Braden Russell

Braden Russell (he/him) is the Project Assistant for the Centre for European Studies. He is responsible for graphic design, social media, and assists the Senior Program Assistant with event logistics.

Braden is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Germanic Studies program in the Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies (CENES) at UBC. He researches Queer Jewish literary and cultural production in current-day Germany and how these texts negotiate new meanings of sufficiency regarding identities and belonging.

Prior to his time at UBC, he studied at University of Victoria where he received a MA in Holocaust Studies, and Texas University received at BA in Global Studies and MA in Language and Culture focusing on German. Braden has also studied outside of North America in Germany, undertook research in Vienna, Austria, and worked in Budapest, Hungary.

In his role as CES Project Assistant, Braden is excited to help support initiatives within the Centre and the broader UBC community!
